Maintenance tips

Maintenance is the key to keeping everything in good and working order, keeping it doing what it is designed to do. Just like your car needs to be serviced and washed, your house including your roof also needs some love and attention from time to time. What can you do to help keep your home water tight and family safe? Here are a couple of tips:

  • Keep your gutters clean from leaf debris, letting them flow freely so when it does rain they don’t overflow back inside your roof

  • Look at the screws, even from ground level, to see if they are starting to rust. If you leave rusty screws in place the rust can transfer to the sheets and the screws lose their structural integrity and can snap

  • Make sure any kids toys or balls are removed from the roof or gutters before they block the downpipes and cause your gutters to overflow

  • If you have a tile roof, check for any slipped or cracked tiles from the ground, also look at your pointing cement on the ridge caps to see if you can see any cracking or any of it falling out

  • Trim any tress, palms or bushes back if they are overhanging the roof or rubbing on the roof

  • Get your roof professional checked every couple of years for peace of mind
